VERDICT

The HB-8A are not hard to recommend. Their clever design makes them a pleasure to use, and their sound quality is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. It’s then unfortunate that issues with the unstable Bluetooth connection are quite common. It’s probably not advisable to venture too far out from the audio source with these headphones.

The AudioMax HB-8A are gorgeous headphones that scream luxury. The manufacturer has combined brushed metal parts with extra-large leather earpads to create one of the most comfortable Bluetooth listening experience for home and outdoor use.

Design and Build Quality

The packaging the headphones come in is one of the nicest we have ever seen. The quality is right up there with Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, and other premium companies. When you open the box, you are greeted with the headphones neatly folded, allowing the box to be much small than if they were shipped unfolded.

In their folded form, the headphones fit nicely into the provided pouch, which does a good job of protecting them against scratches and other minor damage. Of course, you will want to invest into a proper hard-shell carry case to get the best possible protection.

With the headphones unboxed, it was a time to put them on. Their snug fit was very comfortable, and the adjustable headband easily accommodated heads of all sizes. AudioMax used ultra-soft ear cushions, which deliver excellent comfort for all-day use.

As it’s usually the case with Bluetooth headphones, you get to enjoy an integrated microphone with convenient volume controls. All buttons are cleverly placed in such a way that you won’t have any problems identifying them by touch alone. An included cord plugs into the built-in 3.5mm audio jack, turning the headphones into wired ones.

Battery life hovers around 20 hours, and charging takes just a little over 2 hours.

Sound Quality

The gorgeously rich sound of the HB-8A is made possible by leading audio technology that allows for perfectly clear highs, dynamic mid-range, and thumping bass, according to the manufacturer. We can confirm that listening to many different music genres is a supremely nice experience.

Even though the headphones use apt-X and Bluetooth CSR 4.0, the reliability of their Bluetooth connection is not that great. If you get farther away from your smartphone, you can easily experience dramatic signal drops and even short interruptions. The headphones are always quick to resume playing, but you can imagine how annoying it can be.

Other than that, the passive noise isolation is excellent, providing you with your own isolated environment where you can fully enjoy your favorite artists and songs.
